Educational Trips
Real Journeys is pleased to have an exciting resource that supports school visits to the Te Anau Glowworm Caves in Fiordland National Park.
The resource pack has been designed to help teachers and students to get the most out of the Te Anau Glowworm Caves experience. The pack contains information about the surrounding environment and historical features, as well as options and activities that can be adjusted to suit different students’ particular levels.
There are a variety of Social Studies, English and Science based activities that would be suitable for use pre or post - excursion. Colouring pages and word puzzles have been also been provided.
Unit plan outlines have been included for easy planning, as well as samples of RAM and SAP forms. The RAM highlights any possible safety issues that may arise during the caves excursion and the means to avoid problems occurring. The SAP form is very user-friendly covering everything needed for planning a stress-free class trip.
Overall the resource has been designed to use as needed. Teachers are welcome to utilise as much or as little as they require and incorporate it into their unit planning. Many of the activities in the resource pack lend themselves to enquiry-based learning.
A visit to the Te Anau Glowworm Caves offers endless avenues to venture down; it really depends on the students and the learning area.
