Real Journeys Becomes First Gold Sponsor of the Wakatipu Trails Trust
The Wakatipu Trails Trust is now a step closer to its fundraising goal after signing a three year $15,000 sponsorship deal with local tourist operator Real Journeys.
Real Journeys has been the first company to become a Gold Sponsor of the Trust which aims to develop a network of world class walking and cycling trails throughout the region.
Real Journeys General Manager of International Sales and Business Development Tony McQuilkin said the walking, cycling and horse riding trails would benefit both the local community and visitors to the area.
“Real Journeys operates the TSS Earnslaw to and from Walter Peak. Clearly the Wakatipu cycling opportunities on the western side of the lake also tie in directly with the interests and vision of the Wakatipu Trails Trust,” Mr McQuilkin said.
“It will certainly have positive spin offs for the Queenstown visitor industry but the board also felt, most importantly, that the Wakatipu Trail network is a great thing for the local community,” he said.
Kaye Parker, Chief Executive Officer of the Wakatipu Trails Trust said that by signing up Real Journeys as the first Gold sponsor the Trust has been able to encourage other local businesses to come on board.
“The support we have received from local businesses such as Real Journeys has been fantastic,” Ms Parker said.
