Experience some of the Milford Track’s highlights on a one-day guided adventure.
The four-day Milford Track is one of the most renowned walking experiences in the world. If you do not have four days available, a guided day walk offers the chance to experience a taste of this stunning track.
Join your guide in Te Anau and take a short coach trip to Te Anau Downs. From there, you’ll enjoy a one-hour scenic lake cruise to the start of the Milford Track.
The walk begins with a gentle stroll via the Glade Burn to historic Glade House for lunch and a hot drink. Walk alongside the emerald waters of the Clinton River, then cross a swing bridge and stroll through ancient beech forest.
Along the way, your nature guide will explain the track’s history and point out native birds and plants. There is plenty of time for you to enjoy the scenery and take photos.
The walking is easy and relaxed and there are no big climbs.

Real Journeys provides a one-way lake transfer service from Te Anau Downs to Glade House (the start of the Milford Track) for guided and unguided walkers undertaking the internationally acclaimed Milford Track.
Our vessel has a spacious viewing deck where you can relax and soak up the stunning scenery. During the cruise the skipper provides an interesting commentary while you enjoy a complimentary tea or coffee.
Walkers wishing to spend the day exploring the Track independently can book a return cruise from Te Anau Downs. Please note it is extremely important that walkers not miss the return cruise and be at the wharf 20 minutes prior to departure.
