Relive the elegance of turn-of-the-century travel with a cruise aboard the vintage steamship TSS Earnslaw. Affectionately known as the “Lady of the Lake”, the TSS Earnslaw, she has been transporting goods to remote settlements and conveying passengers since 1912.

For added adventure following your TSS Earnslaw cruise, join a guided horse trek (40 mins). Our experienced guide will take you across high country farmland to a look-out with spectacular views of Lake Wakatipu and the surrounding mountains. After returning to the stables, enjoy a traditional morning or afternoon tea at the Colonel's Homestead.

Combine a cruise across Lake Wakatipu on the TSS Earnslaw steamship and cycle along a quiet country road through spectacular high country scenery.
Guided Cycling
Disembark at Walter Peak after your cruise for your small group guided cycling tour (9 per guide). Cycle along a quiet country road through beautiful tussock high country and enjoy stunning views of the Von River and Mount Earnslaw. Cyclists are accompanied by a van with cycle trailer enabling them to cycle as little or as much as they choose. An experienced guide is on hand to provide assistance. Along the way visit Mavora Lakes, traditional musterers' huts and learn about local sheep and cattle stations.

Independent Cycling
After disembarking at Walter Peak, with this non-guided cycling option, cyclists explore the very scenic Back Road High Country by themselves using their own bicycles (or independently hire). We provide a small map and a food/beverage voucher that can be redeemed either on board the TSS Earnslaw or at the Colonel’s Homestead, Walter Peak. Upon completion of their ride independent cyclists return to Queenstown by TSS Earnslaw vintage steamship.

Cruise across Lake Wakatipu on the TSS Earnslaw accompanied by our on board historian, then disembark at Walter Peak for a guided tour of the Colonel's Homestead and beautiful gardens. Enjoy a wine tasting and an antipasto platter before viewing the homestead's collection of early photographs, memorabilia and slideshow with our guide. Then relax on the lakeside terrace until it's time to return to Queenstown.

Evening dining at the Colonel's Homestead, Walter Peak, is the perfect end to an action-packed day. The after dinner show provides a glimpse into New Zealand farming life. On your return cruise to Queenstown, relax with a drink from the bar or join a lively sing-along. There are two dining options:
Carvery Buffet:
