Apprentice Chef of the Year Finalist

Date: 29 June 2017

Congratulations to Daniel Conceição who is a finalist at the Apprentice Chef of the Year awards this year.

Apprentice Chef of the Year Finalist, Daniel Conceição

He started work at Walter Peak six years ago as a kitchen hand and to get this far he has already had to impress the judges by creating an elaborate seafood dish, and sending them the recipe, photos, and a video.

In just 90 minutes Daniel will then have to recreate his dish at the awards in Auckland during one of the toughest and most exciting cook-offs in the country against the three other finalists, to pick the overall winner. This is all done in front of a large audience and a judging panel made up of New Zealand’s top chefs.

Daniel wanted to thank the RealNZ and Walter Peak team for giving him the opportunity and for the help he has had from his mentors Justin Koen and Executive Chef Mauro Battaglia. He will be practising hard in the weeks ahead and we wish him all the best of luck for this prestigious award held in Auckland on July 30th.
