Real Journeys is a family owned tourism business that was founded in the 1950s by tourism and conservation pioneers Les and Olive Hutchins.
Today the company remains true to its founders and their guiding principles of conservation and hospitality.
With operations from Stewart Island to Queenstown - including world renowned cruises through Milford and Doubtful Sounds - Real Journeys is widely regarded as a leader in the New Zealand tourism industry and is regularly named as one of New Zealand’s highest achieving tourism companies.
For our staff though, the aim is still quite simple – to share the natural heritage and astounding beauty of the region with visitors – just as the founders intended.
Meet some of the team
Meet Miriam, Team Leader - Discovery Expeditions.
When she’s not busy ensuring everything’s running smoothly she’s out and about with her camera or inside creating a memento of each trip.
Meet Royden, Skipper - Discovery Expeditions.
He has worked with Real Journeys in Fiordland for more than a decade, calling it a ‘plum job’. Royden says Discovery Expeditions work so well because of the great team effort.
Meet Chris Larsen, Nature Guide - Discovery Expeditions.
Chris is passionate about Fiordland and has been working with Real Journeys for five years. He's a Nature Guide on the Discovery Expeditions during winter and Milford Sound Overnight and Nature Cruises during summer.
