He started work at Walter Peak six years ago as a kitchen hand and to get this far he has already had to impress the judges by creating an elaborate seafood dish, and sending them the recipe, photos, and a video.
In just 90 minutes Daniel will then have to recreate his dish at the awards in Auckland during one of the toughest and most exciting cook-offs in the country against the three other finalists, to pick the overall winner. This is all done in front of a large audience and a judging panel made up of New Zealand’s top chefs.
Daniel wanted to thank the Real Journeys and Walter Peak team for giving him the opportunity and for the help he has had from his mentors Justin Koen and Executive Chef Mauro Battaglia. He will be practising hard in the weeks ahead and we wish him all the best of the luck for this prestigious award held in Auckland on July 30th.
Originally arriving in Queenstown for a two week holiday, 15 years later he's still here - living the dream. Working in the digital realm means he's never too far from an electronic device and when not in the office you'll find him planning DIY projects he'll never start or enjoying a cold beer with mates.
Will has been part of the Real Journeys family since August 2016.
