The Milford Track is one of the most beautiful walks in the world. If you are ticking this Great Walk off your bucket list, transport to the remote track is essential.
We offer seamless connections, with transfers boats across Lake Te Anau to the start of the track and into Milford Sound from Sandfly point.
Why book with us?
The Milford Track starts at Glade Wharf, Te Anau Downs. You must book a 1-hour boat transfer across Lake Te Anau to the start of the walking track. We offer a daily ferry service during the Great Walk season. Free car parking is available at Te Anau Downs, or bus transfers can also be booked from Queenstown or central Te Anau.
After 4 days of tramping through beautiful beech forests and across alpine passes, the track ends with a short boat ride from Sandfly Point to Milford Sound. Real Journeys operate a boat service at the end of the track and this must be booked in advance.

This makes it easier for our guests to book all their transport in one place.
Have your car ready and waiting for you at the end of the track.
We have partnered with Easyhike to offer easy car relocation. Like the name suggests they make it easy by picking up your car from Te Anau Downs and relocating it to Milford Sound so it is ready and waiting for you when you finish your walk.
This will come up as an optional add-on when you book your track transfers from Te Anau Downs. After you book Easyhike you will be provided with details on how to register your vehicle.
You will need to book your Hut Pass directly through the Department of conservation.
Yes, free parking is available at Te Anau Downs, a short stroll from the Glade Wharf where your journey will begin.
Please note that the Milford Track end is in Milford Sound and you will need to organise a vehicle relocation or transport back to Te Anau downs to collect your car after you finish the track. Both of these options can be booked through Real Journeys.
Yes, although this option is not currently available online. Please give us a call on 0800 656 501 and we will be happy to help book one-way coach transport for you.
From 2pm until 4.30pm the Sandfly Point shuttle will travel back and forth until all walkers are off the track. The boat can accommodate up up to 20 passengers per trip, although we usually keep the number around 15 to allow more room for packs. There is a shelter located at the end of the track to accommodate guests if you need to wait for a transfer off the track.
Please ensure you are at the wharf at the time listed on your booking confirmation to ensure you do not miss the boat.
On the return from Sandfly Point to Milford Sound, our friends at Ultimate Hikes will sweep the track and we will mark our manifest to ensure all walkers have made it to the end of the track on time. If you are missing, the Department of Conservation will be notified and it may trigger a search.
Our 3pm afternoon cruise is the best option for Milford Track Walkers and can link seamlessly with the 5pm Tracknet coach departure from Milford Sound to Te Anau.
For a truly once in a lifetime experience, book an Overnight Cruise onboard the Milford Mariner. After spending a night on the fiord, you can connect to the morning Tracknet bus returning to Te Anau or Queenstown (call to book this custom transport option).
