Join us for a magnificent Milford Sound Overnight Cruise to raise much needed funds for the South Island’s only specialised expert wildlife veterinary facility – The Wildlife Hospital, Dunedin.
Your journey begins in Te Anau, where we board the specially chartered coach for Milford Sound, leaving no later than midday. Or you can self-drive and meet us in Milford Sound. (Please note the coach is provided at no extra charge, but is on a first come first served basis as there are limited seats).
Enjoy the spectacular scenery on the way to Milford Sound with fellow Cruise-for-a-Cause supporters, pausing at some of the beauty spots along the way.
Late afternoon we board the Milford Mariner – a beautiful vessel combining old world charm and elegance with comforts that include spacious viewing decks, a dining saloon/fully licensed bar and an observation lounge. The cruise style is relaxed, allowing plenty of time to view the fiord’s spectacular waterfalls, rainforest, mountains and wildlife - you’re bound to encounter seals and if you’re lucky maybe dolphin and penguins – your nature guide is on hand to make sure you don’t miss anything.
The Milford Mariner anchors in a sheltered cove, where you can join the nature guide and explore in a small boat or kayak. If you prefer, you can simply relax on deck and soak in the beauty of this amazing place or go for a swim (if you’re brave enough!). Enjoy a delicious three course buffet dinner prepared by our on-board chef served in the dining saloon. Mingle with other guests and savour some of the fine wines from our licensed bar.
As a wonderful extra to this very special cruise, Wildlife Hospital Director and one of New Zealand’s best-known wildlife veterinarians, Dr Lisa Argilla will share more about her work at the hospital and give some unique insights about some of our very special patients!
After this unique presentation, if skies are clear, wander out on the upper deck to gaze at the night sky from Fiordland.
When we wake the following morning, a sumptuous breakfast awaits us, before heading back to the wharf at Milford Sound.
