We are excited to be hosting the second annual Walter Peak High Country Run in partnership with ActiveQT.
Set sail on the TSS Earnslaw to Walter Peak High Country Farm on the western shores of Lake Wakatipu. The rural setting, with sweeping lake and mountain views, is a spectacular backdrop for your next run. There is something for everyone with 5km and 10km options available. The chefs from Colonel's Homestead will be firing up the BBQs so you can treat yourself after you cross the finish line or choose to upgrade to include our Walter Peak Gourmet BBQ Lunch (both are at an additional cost).
This is a family-friendly event and spectators are welcome.
Online registrations open at 12:00 pm (midday) on 15 January 2021
Online registrations close at 12:00 am (midnight) on Sunday 14 February 2021 (unless sold out prior).
How do I get to Walter Peak?
Transport to and from the event on the Walter Peak High Country Farm will be on board the TSS Earnslaw historic coal-fired steamship and is included in the event entry fee.
Racers are not permitted to travel to Walter Peak using their own transport.
*Please click on the Event Details Page for all transport scheduling.
What clothing should I wear?
Whilst there are no compulsory clothing requirements to take part in the event we suggest you dress appropriately for your chosen event according to the weather conditions on the day. With the nature of the event taking place in an alpine environment, the weather can change at any time.
All participants in the event will be able to leave a small bag containing personal belongings in a dry and secure location before the start of the event and collect post run by presenting your race number.
Where can I park?
There is plentiful pay and display car parking in and around Queenstown. The closest free parking will be in the Queenstown Gardens car park. The nearest pay and display car park is located a stone’s throw away at the Man Street car park (located at 12 Man Street).
What food and refreshments will be available?
A variety of food & refreshments to quench your hunger and thirst will be available to purchase at the Walter Peak pop-up BBQ and onboard the TSS Earnslaw.
