That time I was a beautiful glowworm fairy

Date: 20 February 2018

Glow Worms. Have you ever heard of them?

Well, they are these cute little organisms that dangle off the roof of caves and glow, of course. It is said that their glow is actually their poo, and that’s probably the extent of my knowledge on glowworms. I was totally into capturing the moments rather than listening to the tour guide’s glowworm explanation.

Thanks to RealNZ, Kate and I got to check out the Te Anau Glowworm Caves and have the entire cave to ourselves to capture the glow worms on our cameras. I’m not familiar at all with capturing astro photography or anything to do with darkness and a camera. So I definitely had one heck of a time trying to get their glowy-ness in my photos. I took one decent photo of them, and you’ll find that below. I definitely had much more excitement capturing the entrance of the glowworm cave!

Seriously those 2 photos of the entrance made my entire trip! The way the light from outside the cave came inside was just beautiful, I love playing around with shadows.

Definitely make your way down to the Te Anau Glowworm Caves, they’re pretty cool. I feel like if you’re in New Zealand, there are a few key things you need to see, and glowworms are one of them!

Make sure you pack a lunch, I definitely got hungry and had to buy a Cookie Time Cookie, which was not ideal. Anyways, so many road trips have been happening lately I can’t even handle all of my photo content!

I hope you enjoyed the Te Anau Glowworm Cave photos, and stay tuned for many more adventures very soon!

Bonjour, My name’s Nikki! I’m a 25 year old nomad from Kingston, Ontario, Canada. I’m pretty much a gypsy child who hasn’t exactly found their calling in the world yet. I REALLY don’t enjoy a straight path to anything, even when I’m reading a book, I’ll probably be reading 3 at the same time.
