Our business was founded in Fiordland in the 1950’s by Les and Olive, Lady Hutchins and continues to be family owned, with the next generations stepping into the business in various ways. Read more About us.
Tourism Pioneers since 1954
The Real Journeys story began in 1954 when Les and Olive, Lady Hutchins started taking visitors into the unexplored Doubtful Sound. We continue their dream of sharing the spectacular wilderness with visitors. Les was made a Distinguished Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit (the non-titular equivalent of a knighthood) for services to conservation and tourism in 2002. Find out more about our tourism history.
We have vast local knowledge and a passion for sharing it with visitors. As a result, we can deliver a better experience. We are based in Queenstown, Te Anau, Milford Sound, Manapouri, Bluff and Stewart Island. If you want to get in touch, there’s many ways – have a look at our contact details.
We’re one of the most awarded tourism companies in New Zealand. We’ve won numerous awards – from our visitors (check out our many awards from Trip Advisor), within the tourism industry and from our friends at the Department of Conservation. Read more about the awards we’ve won.
